Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with very mixed feelings that I share with you the news of my approaching retirement, effective July 1, 2012. I want you all to know the pride and pleasure that I have taken in working for Dr. Pruitt at Thomas Edison State College as the New Jersey State Librarian for the past decade, and in New Jersey libraries for over 35 years. I cannot imagine a better career, or a group of more talented and dedicated people to work with.

Together we have implemented many new programs and laid the groundwork for fulfilling our mission to foster a literate, productive and competitive New Jersey. Over the course of this journey, we have empowered people, organizations and government with needed information, and played a vital role in assisting New Jersey residents and businesses through some of the toughest economic times our country has seen in recent history.

However difficult this moment is for me, come July I will depart with the certain knowledge that together we have created the momentum that will keep New Jersey libraries and the New Jersey State Library moving forward as innovative leaders in our field.

I look forward to connecting with many of you over the next several months. Please save the date for a fun, casual good-bye party (no speeches!) to be held on June 15th. Details to follow. Thank you all so much for your continued support.
