Hi, all.

Many of you are probably already meeting the requirements of a new law regarding webpages for public entities. Municipal, joint municipal, and county libraries must maintain a website (or a webpage on another government entity’s website) displaying a wide variety of information on their activities. The NJ Division of Local Government Services will provide information at a later date which details, among other things, the information that must be posted. NJSL will share this information with you as soon as we have it via njpublibs. Of course, association libraries must also have a webpage (or a webpage on another government entity’s website) to qualify for PCSA and should (as a best practice) have whatever is required of municipal libraries on the webpage.

Also included in this email is information about the upcoming event Keeping the Vision While Keeping the Lights On. Just a reminder that to qualify for PCSA, 7 hours of training per trustee board per year is required.

For staff requirements, see attached or go to Chart D: Annual Minimum Hours of Library-related Continuing Education (Excel Spreadsheet).

Best wishes,

Victoria

This law requires all State, regional, environmental and local authorities, boards and commissions to maintain an internet website or webpage; providing increased public access to each entity’s operations and activities. The agencies have one year to have the website active and up-to-date; the law takes effect February 1, 2013.
