Hi, all.

Thanks to all of you who sent information regarding the impact of Hurricane Sandy and the snow storm on your library. We had two purposes in mind for this information. For the initial spreadsheet (and following the BCCLS model), we hoped it would be useful for you to know the status of your neighboring libraries during the emergency. In addition, NJSL needed this vital information so that the State Librarian could answer the questions of local and national reporters in a timely and knowledgeable manner. Mary Chute also provided the information to the Heritage Emergency National Task Force. HENTF is gathering information from those areas most damaged by Sandy so that they may provide it to agencies such as FEMA.

Secondly we would like to have one document accurately listing the impact of the emergency on each public library building in New Jersey, and for that we will need your help. It is our hope that you will update the spreadsheet  SANDY IMPACT ON LIBRARIES at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhTOg2kWhMQbdEVoT3Bzb1VoUE5rT0Mwc0tCTFk0bXc#gid=0. This document will serve as our history of the event, enable other libraries to see strategies and possibilities, help with future interviews and national conversations and assist with planning and future program strategies.

If you would rather email us, please send information to Laretha at lhodge@PROTECTED. The categories are shown below.
