Some of you know that I have a closet addiction to old series books. If by chance you remember the Judy Bolton series by Margaret Sutton, which ran from 1932 to 1967, the author's daughter authorized a new book built on the title promised in the last volume before cancellation. It has finally been released by Applewood Books.
See The Strange Likeness - http://www.amazon.com/Strange-Likeness-Judy-Bolton-Mysteries/dp/1429093218/r ef=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1355776700&sr=1-1 A bit of canonical baggage, but surprisingly well-told, and very true to the originals.
Just FYI, the cancellation was one of many put through by Grossett and Dunlap at around the same time, as they struggled against the pull of TV on their rapidly aging target demographic. All their efforts were put into their top sellers, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. The continuing inroads of TV and the Baby Bust combined to put even these bastions of popular reading in jeopardy not long afterwards. Not too different from cutthroat publishing today. There, that's a history lesson, so it's okay to read at work.
