Dear New Jersey Public Library Directors:

The New Jersey State Library has been selected to administer a grant to New Jersey public libraries using funds from the 2008 "State of New Jersey vs. Bristol-Myers-Squibb Company" anti-trust settlement grant program.

The terms of the settlement require that each library purchase books or other durable materials relating to ovarian cancer, breast cancer, Kaposi’s Sarcoma (see http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/kaposissarcoma.html) and non-small-cell lung cancer. This program is being run on a per-capita basis...should all public libraries elect to participate the grant amount will range from $100 to over $1,500. If there are libraries that elect not to participate, the amount of funding designated for them will be re-allocated among the remaining participating libraries.

The requirements for the grant are:

     *that you respond by the designated date of February 15, 2012;

     *that you sign a Memorandum of Understanding indicating that you will expend the funds in alignment with the settlement terms; and

     *that you provide a report, not to exceed one page in length, to the State Library by September 30, 2013 describing how the funds were expended and the benefits to your community as a result of the grant
