Hi, Sharon --

My understanding is that if the books themselves are in the Public Domain, there cannot be any copyright infringement, and thus no need to use Fair Use to justify the costuming. I hope this helps!

Hi, Everyone,

I have a question that I hope someone can help me answer. A library will be featured on a cable show to be aired in the fall that includes people dressed up as classic book characters from literature that is in the public domain, ie. Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (the book not the movie) and Hamlet from Shakespeare. Does this fall under "Fair Use" or is this a copyright infringement?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Best,
