Librarian 1

Salary: $49,109 
Status: Full-time, 35 hours per week including evenings and weekends.

Description
The successful candidate will, under the direction of the Supervising Librarian, engage in all aspect of professional Librarianship.  TFPL seeks a self-starting, Type-A, dynamic professional with a clear understanding of the principles, practices and techniques of modern library operation; current trends in the delivery of library services; and demonstrated abilities in the selection of library materials as well as reference and research techniques.

 The Librarian in this position will be responsible for the development and relevancy of  the children’s and tween collections; assist customers; plan and provide youth services resources and programs; maintain records and files; and prepare reports.

The Librarian must have strong leadership skills, passion, and a clear vision and ability to implement  21st Century Librarianship and Library Services for children.  The successful candidate will exercise initiative and independent judgment; establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and all library staff; communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing.

Education and Experience
A Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited library school and public library experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge of children's service, technology and social media is expected.  Bilingual is a plus.
