Thank Your Public Library for Making Summer Reading Fun

The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and LEGO® DUPLO® continue to work together on the LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! project, which supports public libraries in bringing constructive play into storytimes across the country in order to help young children develop literacy skills.

This Fall LEGO DUPLO is giving the public an opportunity to thank their local public libraries for all of their great summer programs. By logging on to Facebook and “liking” the LEGO DUPLO Facebook page (http://apps.facebook.com/duplo-prod/) you can thank your local public library by voting for them to win $5,000 from LEGO DUPLO.

Please help us spread the word about this great giveaway!

With school doors opening across the country it’s hard to believe the lazy days of summer have come to an end. Your public library’s hard work this summer has not gone unnoticed. LEGO® DUPLO® would like to thank public libraries for the creative ways they have made summer reading fun for children with $5,000 to be used for future children’s programs.

From now until October 15, 2013 please go to http://apps.facebook.com/duplo-prod/ and “like” the page. Once on the Facebook page to go the giveaway tab in which you will be prompted to enter your name, state and zip code. In recognition of all of the meaningful programs, reading lists and activities that are carried out across the country, LEGO DUPLO will grant $5,000 to the public libraries* in the neighborhood with the most entries.

Please share the word on your website, Facebook page, newsletter and in your public library. We have created a flyer (attached) that you can hand out or post.

While on the DUPLO FB page we also encourage you to post details (and pictures) of your libraries Read! Build! Play! events. Families across the country use the LEGO DUPLO FB page to stay connected so it is a great way to raise awareness and show off the creative ways your library brings story time to life!

As always, please share your great Read! Build! Play! programming ideas and pictures with the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC)!  Photos (with waivers) and programming ideas can be sent to ...@ala.org">jis...@ala.org.

*Please note if there are multiple public libraries in the winning zip code the award money will be divided equally amongst them.
