Webinar: Introducing the CLEL Bell Picture Book Awards
Thursday, September 19, 12:00 – 1:00 pm MT
Join: http://connect.enetcolorado.org/youth-family-services/

There’s an exciting new annual picture book award that recognizes five picture books that provide excellent support of early literacy development in young children. In support of the Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy (CLEL) mission to strengthen children's literacy through library services and community advocacy, the Bell Awards also will serve as a collection development, program planning, and early literacy information resource for librarians, educators, and caregivers, and will provide recognition to authors, illustrators, and publishers. How are the titles selected? Can I nominate a book? How can the Bells help me with storytime and outreach? When will the first awards be announced? Join CLEL members and Bell Award committee members Melissa Depper and Rachel Hartman for this free webinar to find out all that and more! No registration required. Can’t make the date? The webinar will be archived for your viewing convenience.

Also, check out our new Storyblocks videos at http://www.storyblocks.org/! We just added 10 new videos, including 4 in Spanish. Storyblocks is a project of CLEL—Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy—that produces short videos featuring librarians demonstrating a rhyme or song and delivering an early literacy tip. The videos are great for parents, library staff, and ECE educators alike. Produced by our statewide PBS station, they’re great quality. They can be sorted into English or Spanish, as well as age group (babies, toddlers, and preschoolers). About a third are in Spanish.  If we can someday find the funding, we’d love to make them into an app!

Thanks,

Beth
