2013 Fall Youth Services Forum "Core Challenges" – Thursday, November 14, 2013
The
23rd Annual Youth Services Forum: A Day of Hot Topics and Issues in Library Services to Children and Young Adults, sponsored by The State Library, The New Jersey Library Association and New Jersey Association of School Librarians will be held on Thursday,
November 14, 2013 at the Monroe Public Library (Middlesex County) from 8:45 am – 2:30 pm.
Registration forms and program descriptions will be available
soon on NJLA’s website (www.njla.org), and
are available now on the Youth Services section of the NJ State Library’s website (http://lll.njstatelib.org/node/647) or upcoming events page of the NJ State Library’s website under the Lifelong Learning
section (http://lll.njstatelib.org/events). Breakfast and
lunch is included in the registration fee. The deadline to register is October 22, 2013.
Some of the highlights of the Forum include keynote speaker Dr. Dana Sheridan from the Cotsen Children's Rare
Books and Special Collections Library at Princeton University speaking on developing innovative literacy programs for children; storyteller and Atlantic City librarian Megan Hicks demonstrating storytelling using origami; the Dewey classification dilemma with
librarian Sue Giffard of the Ethical Culture School in Manhattan; creative writing programs, portable programming, tech talk; a preschool unconference and many other exciting programs!
If you're interested in attending the preschool unconference to share your preschool programs and ideas don't
forget to bring samples and pictures of crafts and programs you've done with preschoolers in or outside the library. We'd all love to see what each of us has done!
As always, the NJLA Store will be there to entice you to purchase adorable library related items for your library
or as gifts.
