FYI,
NJ State Library YA Book Giveaway Contest for Teen Read Week™ October 13-19, 2013
Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Specialist, NJ State Library, served on the 2013 YALSA’s Michael L. Printz Award Committee (In Darkness by Nick Lake was the winner)
and has a lot of YA (teen) books published in 2012 to give away to good homes in public and school libraries.
“I know that there are libraries that would like to expand their YA collections, or have experienced budget cuts and are in need of YA books. Most are fiction but there
is non-fiction as well,” said Ms. Rawlins. “Teen Read Week’s theme “Seek the Unknown @ Your Library” is perfect for this giveaway in which libraries won’t know exactly what YA books they are getting.”
How to apply:
Two Middle Schools, Two High Schools and Two Public Libraries will be selected to receive boxes of random YA books published in 2012. (The exact number of boxes is not
certain at this time but the books will be equally divided among the winners)
Applicants are invited to submit a short application describing why they feel they should receive the books and how receiving the books will help them better serve the
teens in their libraries. The deadline to submit your application is November 19, 2013 via this SurveyMonkey linkhttp://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XJRP5HR
The winners will be selected based on their answers and notified by email on December 10, 2013 and the books sent via Velocity (or arrangements will be made to send them
to a nearby library that has Velocity) shortly after that.
