Hello everyone-

My name is Katie Bojanek and I'm a member at large for the NJLA YA Section.  Every year, we organize the Garden State Teen Books Awards during which we read and discuss books to go on next year's ballot.  This ballot is then voted on by teens in the state, with winners announced the following year.  

We are now asking for anyone who would like to be a GSTBA reader for the awards to email myself (...@sclibnj.org">kboj...@sclibnj.org) or Katie Llera (...@gmail.com">Kati...@gmail.com), who is the other member at large.  The responsibility of a reader is the read the books assigned to them from the long list of potential nominees and be prepared to discuss it at our upcoming meetings or by e-mail. Each reader will be assigned approximately 4-5 books from each ballot category and must be prepared to discuss them at deliberations, the dates for which are listed below.   The long list of nominees can be found here:

  If you have read a title, please write your full first and last name next to it in Column A.  Please be careful not to write over other information in the spreadsheet, you can use CTL + Z to undo.  You can also e-mail the list of books you have read to me or Katie Llera.

The deadline for reader sign ups and for field nominations is Thursday, October 31 with reader assignments handed out at our YA Section Meeting on Friday, November 8 at South Brunswick Public Library.

Fiction Grades 6-8: Friday, January 17, 2014
Fiction Grades 9-12: Friday, March 7 2014
Nonfiction: Friday, April 11 2014
