Can we say "Clone?"
Just read James Patterson’s First Love, since one copy came in automatically as YA. Talk about a total rip-off of The Fault in Our Stars! Like an afterschool special version. I mean, it’s an okay story, I got through it fast with minimal cursing, but REALLY??? Two kids meet in a cancer ward? They go on a wild journey? One has a relapse?? Please. The teens will gobble it up, but it’s just m&m’s, no substance.
The absolutely worst thing about it was the car stealing. Little white suburbanite gets a few years of community service for what would land any teen of color or in poverty into prison for YEARS. One heck of a message to send.
