Guerilla Storytime
Presenter: Chrissie McGovern, Youth Services Librarian, Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library
Guerrilla Storytime provides an opportunity for Children's Librarians and other storytime specialists to show off their skills and share their strategies for successful storytimes. At the NJLA 2014 Guerrilla Storytime, our moderator will read out challenges about everything from behavior management techniques to materials suggestions, and audience members will rise to the challenge by providing suggestions and solutions. With props at hand, attendees will be able to demonstrate their favorite storytime songs, rhymes, finger plays, activity transitions, and more. Guerrilla Storytimes were hosted with much success at the 2013 ALA Annual Conference and the 2013 Missouri Library Association Annual Conference. Our Guerrilla Storytime will be hosted by a moderator with years of storytime experience, to ensure that the conversation keeps moving and that all attendees who are sharing feel comfortable and welcome.
