The next New Jersey Library Trustee Institute will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2014 at the Sheraton Eatontown. This full day conference features a Keynote and two Plenary sessions, four (4) workshops on a variety of topics such
as Roles & Responsibilities of Library Trustees, Hiring Your Library Director, Transforming you Library, the Future of Libraries, and more! There will be a plenary session on Library Law, and Building a Social Library through innovative use of your library
website and social media. Our Keynote speaker is John Chrastka, library trustee and Executive Director of EveryLibrary.
The New Jersey State Library will once again send one trustee from every library for free to the Trustee Institute. Additional trustees are encouraged to attend at $75.00 each. Should you wish to arrive the evening before, a block of rooms
has been reserved at the rate of $108.00/night. You must make your own reservations with the Sheraton Eatontown at 732.542.6500.
The NJLTA Executive Board will host a free wine & cheese reception Friday evening, September 12, 2014, at the Sheraton Eatontown. Join them for this free and fun networking event!

Library Trustee Continuing Education Requirement: Continuing education for New Jersey library trustees is required by law. Under NJSA (New Jersey Statutes Annotated 15:21-2.3):
a member or members of the board or commission must have received a minimum of seven (7)total hours of library-related education annually to qualify for state aid, among other requirements. The Trustee Institute will fulfill this requirement for the year.
