I just put up a joint book display with the adult department highlighting NJ's 350th birthday.  In case others want to do so, I've included my signs & also included the signs from the state archives about the celebration in Trenton this Sunday.  Here's the detailed schedule of events: http://officialnj350.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/350FestSchedule1.pdf

We plan to follow up this display at our library with additional displays throughout the summer and fall highlighting different topics relating to NJ350. Next up "Jersey Boys -- and Girls!" (tie-in to the move coming out but inclusive of the entire history of NJ music and musicians),  then the NJ Shore, films made in or about NJ, NJ artists, NJ Science and Invention, NJ Women's Trail, Diversity in NJ etc.  We are hoping to install a monitor with Raspberry Pi to run the http://officialnj350.com/videos-it-happened-here-new-jersey/ videos as well.

We've also done a bulletin board and book display combining NJ350 and the SRC Science theme in the youth services dept: Fizz Boom Read!  Mad Science and Marvelous Inventions Created Right Here in New Jersey. It is based on Linda Barth's presentation from her book A History of Inventing in New Jersey: From Thomas Edison to the Ice Cream Cone  http://www.lindajbarth.com/  Feel free to contact me if you want more information.

If your families are looking for  places to visit in NJ (and surrounds) this summer, check out this great list: http://www.happyfamilyart.com/Free-Places-For-Family-Fun-NJ.html  (I printed it out so patrons could browse it in our room.)

Finally, if anyone is looking for New Jersey history-related programming for youth or adults, I impersonate Emily Warren in the presentation "Bridge Builder in Petticoats: Emily Warren Roebling and the Brooklyn Bridge."  Though was once "The Most Famous Woman in New Jersey,"  she is now almost forgotten.  After her husband became bedridden, she became his liaison to the project, eventually communicating with the engineers and suppliers so well that it was rumored that she had become the Chief Engineer herself!  Later she studied law and helped design a family mansion in Trenton that was so magnificent it was offered to the state as a Governor's Mansion.   More info: bridgebuilderinpetticoats.com/

 Carol,

Great to talk to you.  Here is the link for the image of the 1664 deed. It’s from when we did NJ Day a few years ago for the 345th anniversary of the document (and also the 220th of the Bill of Rights).

Also, I have attached two flyers and the rack card we have used.  You can use any of these.  Thank you so much for contacting me about it. We need all the publicity we can get!

Thank you again for Sue Rice’s email.  And I will email the webmaster to see if they will post the flyer and/or rackcard.

Sincerely,

Ronnie
