Hi, Everyone,

Happy New Year!

I know you don’t want to think about next summer’s reading program (although the weather will be warmer!) but it’s that time again!

Time to come up with great slogan suggestions for the 2017 national Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) and the theme for 2018’s summer reading program for children, teens and adults in public libraries.

Needed are:

·     Slogans for children’s (which are also used for early literacy), teen and adult for the 2017 program with the theme of “Build a Better World/Construction/Architecture.” (This was the winning theme selected at the CSLP conference last spring)

·     General “big” idea themes for 2018 program. Suggestions for the 2018 program should not include ‘food’ due to the difficulty of so many libraries not being able to serve any snacks and the number of food allergies.

Please email any slogan suggestions and general ideas to Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Specialist, NJ State Library, ...@njstatelib.org">sraw...@njstatelib.org, by January 26, 2015. This is your chance to be creative and help come up with a slogan and theme that you like that may be used on a national level.

Each state sends five slogans (for each program), which are then compiled and narrowed down for voting at the April annual Collaborative meeting.  Committees further narrow the suggestions and the assembly as a whole votes on these suggestions, with each of the 50 states getting 3 votes.

I appreciate any suggestions you might have!

Thanks in advance.

Best,
