FYI,
I was asked to share this information from the author.

My name is Ana Crespo. I am a new picture book author whose first book in English is being released next month. THE SOCK THIEF (Albert Whitman & Company, 9780807575383) tells the story of Felipe, a Brazilian boy who can’t afford a soccer ball. With the help
of a few socks and a lot of creativity, Felipe finds a way to solve his problem. At the end of the book, kids will find an author’s note and a small Portuguese glossary. THE SOCK THIEF received a positive review from the School Library Journal.
You may find out more about the book and about me at
www.anacrespobooks.com.
There, you will also find resources for the book, including step-by-step instructions on how to make a newspaper-stuffed soccer ball and, soon, recordings to teach the correct pronunciation of the Portuguese words in the book. In addition, I offer free SKYPE
visits.
Considering New Jersey is the state with the second highest concentration of Portuguese-speaking people in the United States, I thought this book might be of interest to your kids.
All the best,
Ana Crespo
