The White House recently announced a Week of Making (June 12-18), which will coincide with the National Maker Faire in D.C. this Summer: https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2015/04/09/announcing-week-making-june-12-18-0<

 

They are hoping to get representation from all 50 states at the National Maker Faire, if you or a library colleague you know can participate, please have them sign up via the link below by the end of today, May 18:

 

Participate in the National Maker Faire-  The official call to makers portal on the National Maker Faire is live! In addition to exhibiting, there will also be speaking and presentation opportunities during the Faire. We encourage you to ask makers who are interested in participating to complete the call for makers here: >http://nationalmakerfaire.com/<

 

You can also:

Host a local event or activity in your community during the Week of Making- The Week of Making is aimed at creating more opportunities for individuals to engage in making locally in their communities- it would be great to include you or your members in hosting events or activities locally during this week, or teaming up with some other groups or organizations in your area who would be interested in collaborating on an event together. If you or any of your peers plan on hosting an event, please share this with us at: www.weekofmaking.org
