Arm yourself!" - The Doctor Doctor Who Comics Day is a global event inspired by Titan Comics’ Doctor Who comic books. Now in its second year, we’re pleased to say that the day will be even bigger and better than its premiere event, and we’re thrilled to be offering libraries the opportunity to celebrate with us. We know that Doctor Who bridges generations, appealing to everyone from children, to families, to sci-fi and fantasy fans through its unique blend of adventure, humor, emotion, and even the odd scary moment – all coupled with, of course, great storytelling. So, we have created a kit to help you host your own Doctor Who Day event, with activities for all ages and suggestions for educational sessions for older kids. EVENT POSTER We have created an event poster, which you can print out and write in details of your own event, then display around your library. DECORATE YOUR LIBRARY OR YOUNG ADULT AREAS Print out some TARDIS bunting to decorate your library. COLORING & PUZZLE SHEETS Print out a selection of coloring pages and puzzle sheets, including wordsearches, spot the difference and mazes for fun activities for kids to participate in. We’ve created a Doctor Who certificate that you can award to everyone who successfully completes the puzzle challenges! CREATE-A-COMIC CLASS Print out a ‘create-a-comic’ kit for kids (old and young!) to put together their own Doctor Who comic. The images are generic enough for them to invent their own story, write their own speech and insert sound effects. The kits are a fantastic springboard to start discussions about how comics work, promote creativity and imagination, investigate how language use can affect the tone of the story, pacing a story, and much, much more. We’ve also created a Doctor Who certificate you can award to everyone who takes part! QUIZ SHEET Why not host a Doctor Who quiz to find your local area’s ultimate Whovian! Print out a quiz sheet to test your library patrons’ Doctor Who knowledge. We’ve created a Doctor Who certificate that you can award to the winner! NAME TAGS Print out Doctor Who name tags and give them to event attendees. BOOKMARK Print out a cool Doctor Who Day bookmark to give to event attendees. SHELF TALKER Print out a Doctor Who Day shelf talker and place it next to your Doctor Who comic collections.   MIDDLE GRADE & YOUNG ADULT RESOURCES We’ve created a lesson plan for your library groups or classroom, which include discussion points for middle graders and young adults.   PRESS RELEASE & LOGO We’ve created a press release and logo that you can adapt to invite local media to cover your event. You can also use this on any promotional newsletters. WEBSITE AND NEWSLETTER BANNERS Customize your website and newsletters with Doctor Who Day banners. FACEBOOK Set up an events page on Facebook and invite your Facebook members to your library on Doctor Who Day. We’ve created an information sheet that helps you set-up your page and a banner to use.  TWITTER Custom your Twitter page with a Doctor Who Day banner. DOCTOR WHO COSPLAY Encourage Doctor Who cos-players! Doctor Who costumes could be as simple as a fez hat (Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor), or a blue suit and overcoat (David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor), or as wacky as one of the amazing alien races that the Doctor has encountered. We’ve created a Doctor Who certificate that you can award to the winner!
