Library Director- Dunellen Public Library
The Board of Trustees of the Dunellen Public Library is looking for a library director who will continue to promote and enhance the library's role as a vital
community resource.
According to the 2010 census the Borough of Dunellen has a population of 7,227. Dunellen has long been known as the railroad town, a name that grew from many
of the town residents working for the New Jersey Central Rail, now NJ Transit. There are 2. 566 households in Dunellen with a median age of 37.1 years, and an average family size of 3.36. The median family income is &88,527 and approximately 8.3% of families
have incomes that are below the poverty line.
Dunellen has one elementary school, one middle/ high school in the public school district and the New Life Christian School as well as several preschools in
the are serving its children. Several families home school their children and use our library. There is very little industry in Dunellen, previously known for Art Color Printing Company, now Gold's Gym. The Dunellen Public Library is located in Dunellen,
NJ in the center of the 1 square mile town making it easily accessible to patrons.
The Director is responsible for management of daily operations, development and implementation of budget, long range planning and policies, implementation of
board policy and supervision of staff.
The Director will be expected to:
Manage the library within the set annual budget.
Provide input into planning for the annual library budget.
Think outside the box to plan and carry out programs, activities and fundraising efforts.
Work well with an established team of employees and volunteers.
Respect and encourage input from staff.
Delegate responsibilities to enhance library programs and activities.
Keep up with the latest technology, social media and current trends in library service.
Develop a collection that continues to meet the educational and entertainment needs of patrons.
Go out into the community to promote the library and build up relationships with local businesses and organizations.
Be an enthusiastic leader with a strong commitment to public service.
Solve simple computer and printer problems
Work flexible hours when programs and activities take place.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
Credentials: Masters degree in Library Science (MLS) or Masters of Library Information Science (MLIS).
Spanish speaking a plus.
Compensation:
Salary $55,000 to $60,000
