Hello Everyone: Besides being a performer and presenter, I am also the director of the Somerset Folk Harp Festival which takes place in Parsippany July 21-24. I’m using all of my contacts from my past library gigs to promote this simple idea: with so many artists from around the world coming to Parsippany for the Harp Festival, why not to try route some of them to do concerts at some libraries? The libraries get the opportunity to present some top, world-class players while they are in the country and at the same time enabling the artists to offset some of their travel expenses. It costs at least $200 to put a harp on a plane—let alone get the ticket for player! The festival runs from July 21-24 and many of the international artists will be arriving a little early (to recover from jet lag). The artists who are particularly needy in terms of travel expenses are all fabulous performers. I’m including some links here to their bios on the harp festival website and a link to a representative video.

The Princeton Library has already booked a mini-international harp festival for July 24 with Nicolas, Kathleen & Meric. If you’re intrigued by the idea and can help us on any of these dates, please let me know! July 18, 19, 20, 21 or July 24, 25, 26.
