February 6 is Take your Child to the Library Day!

Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCLD), a grassroots national initiative, encourages families everywhere to take their children to their local library. Launched in 2011 by Connecticut librarians Nadine Lipman and Caitlin Augusta with artist Nancy Elizabeth Wallace, TYCLD raises community awareness about the importance of the library in the life of a child, and promotes valuable free library services and programs for children and families.

 

Participating libraries benefit from a nationally-recognized programming opportunity, online resources for collaboration and ideas, and free graphics to simplify outreach. TYCLD is completely customizable, enabling libraries to promote whatever programs and services they wish to highlight in accordance with their own goals and budget. Officially held on the first Saturday in February, local TYCLD celebrations may take place on any date(s) in February that suit the schedule and community of participating libraries.
