Dear Colleagues,
I am forwarding this grant opportunity to you due to its time sensitive nature. Please contact Katherine Messier (at the bottom of the message) if you have any questions.
Bob
Dear friends,
I wanted to let you know that there is still time for community anchor institutions (CAIs) to apply for Mobile Beacon’s Wi-Fly Lending Launch Kit grant. We’re accepting applications through September 30th and winners will be announced in
mid-October.
Last year, this grant program was offered to libraries and KC Public Library became our 2015 Wi-Fly pilot site. They are now starting their second year of their Hotspots for Learning program, which helps close the homework gap through a
collaboration of KCPL and KC Public Schools!
This year, we’ve opened the program up to all CAIs that want to jumpstart a digital inclusion effort in their community. The Wi-Fly Lending Launch Kit gives local community organizations the initial tools they need to create their own digital
inclusion programs and serve the evolving digital needs of their communities. Each kit contains:
• 25 donated 4G hotspots
• Free, unlimited LTE data plans for each hotspot during the pilot program
• 25 donated Lenovo Thinkpad E540 laptops
The estimated value of the donation for the Wi-Fly Lending Launch Kit is ~$20,000, but we know that the transformational power of bringing the internet to vulnerable groups is much more. I encourage eligible SHLB members to apply or share
the opportunity with organizations you work with who would benefit from the program.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Katherine
