Dear Colleagues,

There are two news items I have to share with you regarding the statewide databases provided by the New Jersey State Library.  First, I wanted to let you know that with the help of EBSCO we have new database URLs for our EBSCO databases.  These URLs can be found at http://www.njstatelib.org/services_for_libraries/statewide_services/jerseyclicks/jerseyclicks-urls-libraries/  The URLs are for libraries that want to put links to the databases on their websites instead of linking directly to JerseyClicks. 

On the page above you will notice three different methods of authentication: library barcode, username and password, and geolocation.  Geolocation authentication is new this year and I think it will be most useful for school libraries that, in the past, often used username and password authentication for their students.  Geolocation first tries to authenticate by IP address, but if that fails it will try to detect if a user’s IP address comes from within New Jersey.  If that is the case the user is let into the database.  This eliminates the need for school libraries to share usernames and passwords with their students.  However, if for some reason geolocation fails, please contact me.

If your school library already has database URLs on its webpage you will just need to change them to the links on the page above.  However, if your school has not used the EBSCO databases provided by the State Library you will need to contact me to have an account set up on EBSCO’s system. 

Second, JerseyClicks has a new look and location.  You can still access JerseyClicks by visiting www.jerseyclicks.org but now it is part of the New Jersey State Library’s website (whereas before it was hosted on a vendor website).  The only thing that has changed is the look of the JerseyClicks website, the functionality remains the same.
