Please excuse cross-postings
Hi, Everyone,
My term as CSLP President has been keeping me really busy and as the state rep I’ve been a little neglectful in sending out information about summer reading in public libraries as promptly
as in the past years. I apologize for that. For a brief update of what I’ve been doing with CSLP, here’s a link:

The manuals for the 2017 summer reading program have been shipped and arrived at the NJ State Library on Monday. They were shipped later than usual this year. The statewide summer reading committee meets to
pack them up to ship out to you via the statewide delivery service. We are hoping to do that mid-November but it means that you may not receive them until the end of November. For those of you who want to order your incentives by the Dec. 1 deadline to have
by March 1, you can order them online through the CSLP website at http://shopcslp.com/cslp/
You may be aware that the manuals are available online for the first time this year. There’s still a cost associated with accessing them online but that’s covered by the grant the State Library receives. But,
I didn’t have the chance to ask all the public libraries what format they wanted to receive the manual in this year. It was a question on the summer reading survey but that was sent out after I’d already submitted the order for the 2017 manuals. I will try
to accommodate your preferred format, but it may not be possible for everyone this year. I will use your responses when ordering the manuals for the 2018 summer reading program.
The illustrators for the 2017 CSLP Summer Reading Program are:
Early Literacy & Children’s program: David Macaulay
Teen program: Scott Sosebee
Adult program: Larry Jones
NJ is again participating in the 2017 Teen Video Challenge. For more information go to the
NJ State Library’s summer reading webpage or the
CSLP website.
We are also soliciting for ideas for the 2018 CSLP Summer Reading Program manuals. Chapter suggestions are attached for the teen and adult manuals.
The theme is music and the slogan for all ages is “Libraries Rock.” The link to submit ideas via an online
submission form is
http://www.cslpreads.org/manual-submission-form/online/
The deadline to submit ideas for the teen and adult manuals is November 19.
We are also collecting a list of diverse books for the manuals. Use this form to submit a suggestion for a diverse title for any age:

The deadline to submit any suggestions is November 11.
I will also send out reminders asking for suggestions for the 2018 teen and adult manuals in separate emails.
Thanks! If you have any questions, just let me know.
Best regards,
Sharon Rawlins
