Dear Colleagues,

There is no better way to celebrate the life of Robert White and all that he did for BCCLS and for New Jersey libraries than for us to gather together at his favorite place - the library.

Please join us at the New Milford Public Library (200 Dahlia Avenue) on Wednesday, December 21st from 10:30 am until noon for a remembrance and service for Robert, our friend and colleague. There will be no wake or funeral, so we hope everyone will have an opportunity to attend this service. We encourage anyone with fond memories of Robert to attend and share a few words at this service; there are so many stories from people in the library field about how Robert got them their first library job, welcomed them into a new position with open arms, advocated on their behalf to library boards and elected officials, and so much more. These stories deserve to be shared while we honor his legacy.

Thank you all for the comforting words the office has been receiving today. As Robert's successor here, I never had the opportunity to work directly with him, but he was so kind and supportive during my first few months here and it was wonderful to have him as my colleague while he was interim Executive Director at PALS Plus. I came into an office with an incredible team of staff that he built, and an organization whose strength is a testament to his tireless advocacy of collaboration among libraries. His imprint on this organization is indelible.
