Award-winning author Jerry Spinelli will appear at the Princeton Public Library to talk about his new book, “The Warden’s Daughter,” about a motherless 13-year-old girl growing up in an apartment above the entrance of a prison where her father is the warden.
The New York Times has called Spinelli “a poet of the prepubescent. . . . No writer guides his young characters, and his readers, past these pitfalls and challenges and toward their futures with more compassion.” In “The Warden’s Daughter,” he masterfully spins a tale of loss and redemption. Not only does this book demonstrate the power of kindness, it also makes readers realize that kindness can be hidden in the least likely people and places.
Jerry Spinelli is the author of many books for young readers, including “Stargirl;” “Love, Stargirl;” “Milkweed;” “Crash;” “Hokey Pokey;” “Wringer;” and “Maniac Magee,” winner of the Newbery Medal; along with “Knots in My Yo-yo String,” his autobiography.
Copies of Mr. Spinelli’s books will be available for purchase and signing.
This event will be held on Monday January 23 at 6 pm in the Community Room at Princeton Public Library. This event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the library, Princeton Public Schools, jaZams Toys and Books, and Labyrinth Books.
