FYI,
Applications for Libraries Ready to Code grants now open
The grant application for Libraries Ready to Code opened yesterday, July 24.Check out the Libraries Ready to Code
website for all the details you’ll need to apply. Applications are being accepted now through August 31, 2017.
Libraries interested in applying should read the request for proposals (RFP) linked on the website and fill out the application based on criteria described in detail in the RFP. Be
sure to check out the resources about the Ready to Code work we’ve been doing so you are familiar with the overall Ready to Code objectives and report findings. You should also read over the eligibility requirements carefully to make sure you are eligible
before working on the application. Public, K12 school, and native and tribal libraries from rural to urban areas are encouraged to apply.
A cohort of 25-50 libraries will be selected to receive grants of up to $25,000 to design and implement youth coding programs that incorporate Ready to Code concepts. Through these
programs, the library cohort will collaboratively develop, pilot and rapidly iterate a “Ready to Code” toolkit containing a selection of CS resources for libraries and an implementation guide.
The selection committee that will review the applications and select the grant recipients will be made up of members from the three youth divisions – the American Association of School
Librarians (AASL), the Association of Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). YALSA will administer the grant program.
Questions?
Sign up today for an informational webinar on Tuesday, August 1st at 2:30, eastern. You will learn what it takes to put together
