Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership in the planning, management, and evaluation of school library programs
• Directs, organizes and supervises the services essential to a library program centered on students’needs and the instructional goals of the school.
• Makes resources available to students and teachers through a systemically developed and organized collection of library materials.
• Develops flexible circulation, loan, and use policies that ensure equity of access to users.
• Assists all users in identifying, locating, and interpreting information.
• Arranges for flexible scheduling of facilities to meet the needs of school-based or community-based individuals, small groups, or large groups for research, browsing, programming, or recreational reading.
• Determines purchase orders for books and other materials within the library budget, and maintains a productive and student-centered environment in the library.
• Develops and continually updates the professional expertise necessary to function effectively in the librarian role.
• Initiates and carries out formal evaluation of the library programs, facilities, materials and equipment in partnership with school administrators.

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Must have Media Specialist certification
• Demonstrated expertise in subject area
• Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting
• Documented experience using data-driven instruction to achieve significant student gains
