Hello, Children’s Librarians and Library Staff Who Work with Children,
The New Jersey State Library, NJ Makers Day, and the Newark Museum are collaboratively hosting educator (i.e. librarians, afterschool organizations) trainings on Leap into Science Workshops focusing on the concept of balance, for informal
educators from around the state.
Sign up if interested in the training.
Leap into Science is a nationwide program developed by
The Franklin Institute Science Museum that integrates open-ended science activities with children’s books, designed for children ages 3-10 and their families. Activities can easily supplement
S.T.E.A.M. programs and fit your individual organizations goals. The program empowers educators to offer workshops in community settings like libraries, museums, and out-of-school time programs to engage under-served audiences in accessible and familiar settings.
Libraries/Organizations participating in Leap into Science will:
• Send a group of two or more educators (whenever possible) to a 4-hour of training on the high-quality science and literacy curriculum
• Receive ongoing support and become a part of a Leap into Science National Network
• Have access to the national Leap into Science leadership team and online resources
• Participate in ongoing evaluation activities (i.e. surveys, interviews, site visits)
• Receive one set of curriculum and materials kit per organization (valued at $300)
Leap into Science is funded by National Science Foundation, and led by
The Franklin Institute and
The National Girls Collaborative Project.
