Subject: Governor Murphy's Phase 2 Announcement and Libraries
Date: June 2nd 2020

Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday, on June 1st, Governor Murphy started the conversation about a phased in launch of Stage 2. This next stage begins June 15th with outdoor restaurant dining, outdoor fitness and camps. He then alluded to barbershops and hair salons starting to open June 22nd. The Governor’s next statement spoke to gyms and health clubs saying that those would follow closely after the June 22nd date. Libraries were not specifically mentioned in any of these categories. However these types of activities are the ones with which libraries were bundled at the time of Executive Order 107 on March 20th.  Governor Murphy then tweeted (https://twitter.com/GovMurphy/status/1267581661513998337) that museums and libraries would be “Phasing in” as part of Stage 2 of his reopening plan so metime after July 6th.  We continue to monitor the situation and will let you all know as soon as new information is available.  Until we receive an update from the Governor’s Office Executive Order 107 still governs library activities.

Best regards,

Bob Keith
