Subject: Temporary Suspension of Per Capita State Aid Minimum Requirements
Date: July 2nd 2020

Dear Colleagues,

The New Jersey State Library acknowledges the hard work and sacrifice of library staff during the past few months.  The struggles you have all faced were unprecedented and your skill at handling them is to be commended.  While the slow process of reopening our public libraries is beginning we are confronted daily with new challenges.

To assist public libraries in this new reality the State Librarian has suspended the following Per Capita State Aid minimum requirements for Data Year 2020: Hours per Week, Days per Week, Weekends, Evenings, Volumes, and Volumes Purchased.  All other Per Capita State Aid minimum requirements are still in effect and payment of State Aid in 2021 will still be predicated upon attaining the remaining minimum requiremen ts and full completion of the Annual Survey, Per Capita State Aid Application, and Accuracy Certification.

If any further adjustments to the Per Capita State Aid program become necessary the State Librarian will act within her ability to ensure the soundness of New Jersey’s public libraries.

Best regards,

Bob Keith
