Beginning this week, New Jersey State Library has started working with LYRASIS, a non-profit organization, to implement SimplyE for all public libraries across the state who wish to participate. LYRASIS staff members will be working with you directly to ensure your library is successfully added to SimplyE.
Benefits of SimplyE
SimplyE is an open source e-reading/listening mobile application for iOS and Android that allows libraries to:
Additional Content from the State Library
Every library that participates in SimplyE will also benefit from the new collection of materials that the state library is sourcing from Baker & Taylor. This collection will appear alongside your library’s unique collection of materials in SimplyE, enabling your library to have a single point for accessing your e-book and e-audiobook content. Additionally, each library will also have the option to add the DPLA Open Bookshelf (https://freebooks.dp.la/collection/groups) collection of over 8,000 open access titles to your combined collection in SimplyE as well. This collection is free and is included as part of your SimplyE implementation.
Project Rollout
LYRASIS will be working in a phased roll-out of SimplyE across the state, starting with public libraries that are part of consortia and/or county-based systems. Independent libraries will be configured in a second phase later this year.
What information will you need to provide to LYRASIS?
LYRASIS will ask you to provide some basic information about your library (official name, logo, patron support email address, etc.) as well as configuration details about the ILS and collections you have in place at your library. All you will need to do is to assemble and provide information to LYRASIS. LYRASIS staff will complete the configuration process on your behalf, so there is no impact on staff time to get started, other than providing requested details.
Next Steps
To get started, please send an email to simplye@PROTECTED with the name of your library and your name, title, and email address. A LYRASIS staff person will send a follow-up email with a request for specific information about your library as well as details about the next stages in the process of getting your library configured in SimplyE.
This mailing list is announce-only.
