Subject: CURRENT CAPACITY LIMITS IN NEW JERSEY PUBLIC LIBRARIES
Date: October 21st 2020

The New Jersey State Library was recently made aware that some public libraries are operating at levels above the recommended 25% capacity for customers. In checking with the Governor’s Office, the reply that we received was as follows:

“Libraries should be operating at 25% capacity, excluding staff. There’s no essential/non-essential designation.”

We hope that this clarifies the current state guidance for your institution.
