Youth Services Librarian Fairfield Free Public Library

We are looking for a dynamic, friendly, highly motivated, super flexible Youth Services Librarian who believes in providing excellent customer service to children, teens, and parents. The successful candidate must be welcoming, hardworking, and knowledgeable about children’s literature and reader’s advisory, with strong experience developing and conducting children’s programming and storytime. Our dream librarian will provide fun and innovative programs, and participate in a number of projects, including but not limited to community engagement, outreach to schools, social media, technology instruction, book recommendations, website management, scheduling, reference and circulation services, collaborating with the library staff, and other duties as needed and assigned. The Youth Services Librarian reports to the Director and is the person in charge in the absence of the Director.

Skills Required: MLS/MLIS (Master of Library Science Degree) from an ALA accredited library school or completion of 12 credits towards the degree. Experience supervising library staff is a plus, but not required.

This is a 35-hour position that requires evenings and weekends, that may include virtual or online work depending on the needs of service.

Starting Salary: Is commensurate with experience and meets NJLA minimum salary recommendation for MLS/MLIS holders.
