On Wednesday June 30, NJSL, together with partners NJLA and Plainfield Public Library, are hosting an information session on a newly launching NJSL Literacy Project. There are a number of ways your library could participate in the project. We’re looking for libraries interested in building capacity to provide literacy services by piloting one of two mechanisms.

The NJSL Literacy Project will pilot two models for providing literacy services in public libraries. One, a fixed lab approach that models the work that has been so successful in Plainfield. The second is a mobile navigator approach that is being used in some areas of the country, particularly with reference to digital literacy. The overarching idea is to showcase libraries as literacy destinations in communities across the state. 

At the session, we will outline the projects, describe what kind of commitment we’re looking for from participating libraries, what NJSL and partners will contribute and the project’s approximate time frame. Please register ahead:
