Hi, Everyone,

The Annual Meeting for the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) will be held virtually again this fall. But, all the states would like to share stories of how all of you in public libraries met the needs of youth and families in your communities last summer or are doing so for 2021.  Would anyone be willing to share some of your public library’s stories? They can be sent as photos with a short narration or through short videos – whatever works best for you.  Please submit your videos or photos to inspire us all by August 30, 2021 to this shared folder

Here are a few examples of inspirational stories, shared over the last few months by Janet Ingraham-Dwyer, Chair of the CSLP Child and Community Well-being (CCWB) Committee:

  1. This video is from CCWB member, Carol Waxman, and her colleague, Bailey Berardino, about the Kindness Project at West Hartford Public Library.

  1. This brief video is part of PLA’s Libraries Transform series that they released about 5 years ago. It’s just over a minute long and talks about so much of what we are supporting and encouraging about libraries and food insecurity!

I know that all the public libraries throughout the country have rallied in many ways through innovative programs, resources, partnerships, and services to meet families and youth where they are and provide what they need, whether it be a device, a connection to a community resource, a meal or a friendly smile.  Help us celebrate at the CSLP Annual Meeting in September all the ways that our public libraries have been there as a vital connection for the families of our communities.

Thank you!

All the best,
