The NJSL + Partners Literacy Project will pilot two models for providing literacy services in public libraries. The overarching idea is to showcase libraries as literacy destinations in communities across the state. Through American Rescue Act Funding, the State Library will offer two pilot projects:
Pilot Project 1 – Hub and Spoke Libraries: A fixed lab approach that models the work that has already been successful in the Plainfield Public Library. Learn more about the Hub and Spoke Libraries project here: https://www.njstatelib.org/services_for_libraries/american-rescue-plan-act-arpa/njsl-partners-literacy-project-pilot-1-and-pilot-2/
Grant guidelines and application are now available here (Deadline Aug. 15): https://www.njstatelib.org/services_for_libraries/american-rescue-plan-act-arpa/njsl-partners-literacy-project-pilot-1-and-pilot-2/njsl-partners-literacy-grant-guidelines-and-application/
There will be a Q&A Zoom session on Pilot 1 on July 28. Register here for the Q&A session: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_5NJ6G0vuSHaY2jIpio80iw
There is a field trip on July 20, to the Plainfield Public Library to visit their lab. Contact Michele Stricker (mstricker@PROTECTED) to sign up for the afternoon tour, or for more information on the Hub and Spoke Libraries, Pilot 1 project.
Pilot Project 2 – Access Navigators Program: A mobile navigator approach that is being used in some areas of the country, particularly with reference to digital literacy. Contact Juliet Machie (jmachie@PROTECTED) at NJLA for the Access Navigators Program, Pilot 2.
