Part-Time Teen/Children’s Librarian

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic librarian to join its youth services team. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, have outstanding communication skills, have experience designing and implementing creative programming, and possess the ability to answer a variety of reference and reader’s advisory questions with enthusiasm.

Duties include:

  • Providing reference, reader’s advisory and computer assistance to children, teens, young adults, and adults 
  • Collection development, maintenance, and weeding for Teen and Young Adult fiction and graphic novels collections 
  • Developing and implementing innovative programming and volunteer opportunities to engage teens in grades 6-12 
  • Planning and implementing the Teen Summer Reading program  
  • Planning and implementing the Teen summer volunteer program
    • Consulting with other staff on the design and maintenance of the Teen section of the library’s website 
    • Promoting Teen programming through the creation of flyers, email blasts, and posters 
    • Maintaining an inviting atmosphere in the Young Adult Room, including creating displays, signage, and décor  
  • Creating and updating booklists for the Teen and Young Adult Collections 
  • Assisting in the planning and presentation of preschool story time programs
    • Other duties as assigned

Hours: 24 hours per week including one to two evenings per week and some Saturdays.

Required qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.

The position requires residency in the State of New Jersey. If the successful applicant is not a New Jersey resident, he or she must become a bona fide New Jersey resident within one year. Applicants from Moorestown will have first consideration.
