LIBRARY ASSISTANT, YOUTH SERVICES, PART-TIME

The Nutley Public Library has an opening for a Part-time Library Assistant in the Youth Service Department. Applicants will meet the following requirements: high school diploma; good communication and people skills; enthusiastic and service-oriented; ability to organize work; can lift and move objects up to 40 lbs; and computer and current technology skills. Experience working in a youth service library setting with BCCLS knowledge preferred.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assists library patrons of all ages (in-person, electronically, and by telephone) in finding materials.
• Assists the librarians with planning and implementing programs.
• Answers technology questions and assists patrons with databases, downloadable media, and computer use.
• Assists the librarians with collection maintenance and development.
• Prepares books and other library materials for the collection, including labeling and processing.
• Assists in the maintenance of exhibits and displays.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Hourly wage: $16.53. This is a permanent, part-time, civil service, union position for twenty-four (24) hours per week. Evening and weekend hours required (1-2 evenings per week/1 Saturday per two weeks). Prorated sick, vacation, and personal leave.
