The Jane Addams Children's Book Award annually recognizes children's books of literary and aesthetic excellence that effectively engage children in thinking about peace, social justice, global community, and equity for all people. A national committee of members with passion for and expertise in children's literature and social justice is responsible for making the choices each year.

The board will be selecting two new members for the upcoming cycle of the Jane Addams Peace Association Book Award Selection Committee. If interested, please fill out this application form. Applicants should be prepared to upload a curriculum vitae/resume and a sample book annotation. The deadline for applications is Monday, November 15th.

The duties of members-at-large are included at the top of the application form and are

• Read and review on Slack 3-6 titles per month, reading a balance of both books for younger and older children
• Participate in scheduled Zoom meetings monthly and as needed
• Read all potential finalist selections in order to be eligible to vote on finalists and winners
• Regularly update books received from publishers on shared spreadsheet
• Monitor reviews in relevant publications (e.g., School Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, independent reviewers)
• Monitor Slack and respond to other members' posts at least twice a week
