Subject: Apply to Host a Graphic Novel & Comics Round Table Virtual Panel
Date: March 18th 2022

FYI,

Apply to Host a GNCRT Virtual Panel

We are looking for fresh, innovative, and inclusive panels that focus on graphic novels in libraries! Do you have a virtual program that will educate and inspire library staff and educators?

Please provide us with a title, a clear and concise program description and why your program needs to be seen by library staff and educators. Past panels have featured topics such as readers advisory, collection development, running a library comic convention, and more. We are especially interested in submissions that focus on challenges, censorship, gatekeeping, and how these ideas intersect with intellectual freedom. Check out the Libcomix Online Archive for more info on past panels.

Where to Submit

Program proposals can be submitted via our form at https://airtable.com/shrOrUxxMrbh29ilS

Deadline to Submit

Submit your panel by Friday, April 8th.

Why You Should Participate

With virtual programming, you have a chance to reach a wider audience than ever before! Your presentations will be available for on-demand viewing after their initial premiere, making them accessible to even more library staff and educators. We're looking for a wide variety of programming, from conversations to sharing resources to in-depth interviews.

Want to help other educators build the best graphic novel collection and share your successful methods? Ready to show us what worked in your library or classroom to get comics into the hands of your readers? Tell us about your great idea - we want to hear them!

Tips for Submissions

Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind while considering virtual programming to submit:

  • The panel should be a maximum of 60 minutes in length.
  • The content should be geared to educators and librarians
  • The panel may include up to 4 speakers and one moderator.
  • For multi-participant panels, the proposal should provide a collection of speakers of different backgrounds and a diversity of perspectives

What's Next?

After you submit your panel proposal, a member of the GNCRT Libcomix Online Committee will reach out to you to confirm receipt of your submission. You will receive a second communication on whether your panel was accepted once it has been reviewed by the team. Panel decisions will not be made until after the submission window closes on April 8th.
