NJ Legislators Speak Out in Support of Intellectual Freedom

Representatives Tom Malinowski, Bill Pascrell Jr., Donald M. Payne, Jr., Albio Sires, Bonnie Watson Coleman and Senators Cory A. Booker and Robert Menendez issued a joint statement to textbook publishers urging them to resist book banning efforts in Florida and other states. These legislators urged publishers to be transparent about changes they are asked to make and that the original, uncensored textbooks continue to be made available to New Jersey and other states: "We are proud of having some of the highest rated public schools in the country in our state, and we will not stand for lowering our educational standards and learning opportunities for our students, based on the divisive politics of censorship from politicians in Florida, Texas, or anywhere else."
