FYI,

I’m passing this information along from ALSC on ALA Connect:

...................................................................

In response to an increase in book bans, the CAA Foundation (Creative Artists Agency) and the Campaign for Our Shared Future (nonprofit) are launching #LetAmericaRead, a new initiative designed to raise awareness of the growing danger of book bans in America. Join us starting Tuesday, April 11, to deliver one simple message: Americans don't ban books.

Through #LetAmericaRead, we are working with an incredible group of artists from film, television, literature, business, and activism and many other spaces who will post on social media to shine a light on the thousands of books that have been banned from schools and school libraries.

Here's how you can help:

SHARE posts from the artists and include #LetAmericaRead starting on Tuesday, April 11.
CREATE your own post to share using this basic sample script: "This book was so important to me ( or my family). Now, This book [TITLE] is now banned in multiple states simply because it deals with the lives of Black families in America [OR OTHER THEME OR GROUP]. Kids need books like these on the shelves in their classrooms and school libraries in order to learn and find their way in our diverse society. The growing trend across our country of banning books like [TITLE] harms our kids, is dangerous, and is flat out un-American. Support our children's freedom to learn and #LetAmericaRead."
SUPPORT organizations that fight censorship and support libraries, librarians, and educators by going to http://LetAmericaRead.org.
TELL your friends and family about #LetAmericaRead and encourage them to participate, too.
