Please consider responding to this request for information about community-focused information literacy programming and services in your library. It was issued by the Institute of Museum and Library Services on behalf of a federal taskforce on information literacy. Congress requested the formation of the taskforce and its development of a website, which will host resources usable to local organizations such as museums and libraries as they address community needs through programming and resources that might have an information literacy component.

Information literacy skills can include (but are not limited to):

• Navigating information sources like web pages, newspapers, and magazines
• Identifying false or misleading information (misinformation and/or disinformation)
• Identifying bias, and the impact of bias, in information sources
• Identifying accurate and reliable information sources
• Searching for accurate information to answer a query (in print or online)
• Understanding how information spreads online, including through social media
• Identifying the information needs of a community or group
