About the Guest:
Sheri Laigle is the Director of Social Services at HIAS, a Jewish humanitarian organization committed to helping refugees and asylum seekers in the Washington, DC and New York metropolitan areas.
Prior to her role at HIAS, Sheri worked as a therapist at Trauma Services, a program of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, for 17 years. In that position, she served victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma and interpersonal or gender-based violence.
Bilingual in French and English, Sheri has worked extensively with the African immigrant population throughout her career. She was the co-founder and organizer of the African Women’s Empowerment Workshop, an annual conference for African immigrant women, from 2008 to 2019.
