FYI,
I’m sharing this information I saw on the discussion list for the association of rural and small libraries. I thought it was worth sharing if anyone’s interested.
Sanford Lab’s first-ever virtual Neutrino Day events July 6-11
Mark Hanhardt, is an astrophysicist at the Sanford Lab in Lead, SD is working on projects to learn more about dark matter. Each year the lab hosts Neutrino Day, which has now expanded to a week of events highlighting science, dark matter, and the exploration of our universe. With the current pandemic this is the first year that the event will be held virtually, with programming for all ages throughout the week of July 6 -11th.
Mark thought this would be a great opportunity for the lab to partner with libraries across the country, in promotion of their virtual event and in providing computer and internet access for patrons who would not be able to attend the event otherwise.
If your library is interested in promoting Neutrino Day, please see the following information, which is from Erin Broberg, communications specialist at Sanford Lab:
We are proud to announce Sanford Lab’s first-ever virtual Neutrino Day event on July 6-11. Speakers, live chats with scientists, hands-on activities, Native American activities, Science Steve, contests and facility tours—everything you’ve come to love about Neutrino Day will be available via our online Neutrino Day hub. And for the first time ever, anyone, from anywhere, will be able to participate this year without traveling to Lead!
Please consider helping us promote this educational outreach event using these promotional resources on our Neutrino Day website: https://www.neutrinoday.com/promotional-resources
The lab has put together easy-to-share promotional resources, with videos, articles, and Facebook event information. Please feel free to share this information with other community members and libraries who might be interested in participating in this year's virtual events!
