Full Time Branch Manager, Franklin Township Public Library, Youth Center Library

This is a new position in a new facility that is currently under construction. It is equivalent to Department Head with an emphasis on youth services. Supervises and manages the Youth Center library staff of three (p-t support). Coordinates and provides adult, young adult and children’s reference and other library services for the public. Manages the training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and development of Youth Center Library staff. Provides or schedules adult, young adult and children’s programming. Responsible for collection development. Oversees the general operation of patron-used equipment and technology.

Requirements:  M.L.S./M.L.I.S or equivalent from an A.L.A, accredited institution; a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate and a valid New Jersey driver’s license; at least five years recent professional experience in reference and young adult services; at least two years supervisory experience; recent experience with computers and applications used in libraries; ability to work the following schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays 1 p. to 8 p., and Tuesdays, Thursday and Friday 9:30 a. to 5 p.; ability to work independently and to maintain regular attendance and punctuality; experience in children’s services a plus.

Physical demands: Ability to handle active, ambulatory work that may involve repetitive bending, reaching, walking, carrying piles of books and pushing loaded book cards.  Dexterity to handle books, keyboards and other small objects.

$60,000/year
