Dear Library Colleagues: For some time now, we have realized that Victoria Rosch and Scherelene Schatz\x92s ability to do statistics, surveys and analysis has greatly enhanced our work in advocacy and marketing. Peggy Cadigan\x92s work in programming has added to our Library Development Bureau\x92s excellent reputation in continuing education, futures and communication with the field. Broadband Data Collection from Libraries

The New Jersey Office of Information Technology (OIT) recently received funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to gather and verify data on the availability, speed, location and technology type of broadband services in the state. As part of the study, OIT has created a brief three-minute Web-based survey (http://connectingnj.state.nj.us/cai.shtml) to help us understand broadband connectivity at the state's Community Anchor Institutions. For the third year, during the months of February and March, the New Jersey State Library, the New Jersey Library Association and libraries throughout New Jersey plan to honor the legacy of Abraham Lincoln, as part of the national Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commemoration, by collecting pennies for the Pennies for Peace Program. Dear Directors: The State Library is holding the second \x93Best Practices in Early Literacy Contest\x94 to recognize four public libraries for their innovative and successful programs for children from birth to age 6.
